Tara Stephen has been attending births in Colorado for over 10 years.  She is one of the most highly trained midwife specialists in Southern Colorado.  Caring, compassionate, supportive, honest and “she loves her work” are words Tara’s clients use to describe her.
As a consummate healthcare professional, Tara holds a Masters of Science in Midwifery degree (MSM), is a nationally certified midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives, and licensed to practice midwifery in the state of Colorado (RM).
In addition to her midwifery practice, she is a community advocate for midwifery.   Tara is passionate about ensuring that the practice of midwifery care remains a safe and viable option for all women.

Why Home Birth?

More mothers are choosing to give birth at home; under their own terms, in the comfort of their house, and surrounded by loved ones. Planned out-of-hospital births have grown in recent years.  Between 2008-2012 the rate of homebirths has increased by 60%.  The homebirth experience also provides immediate bonding and breastfeeding, benefiting both mother and baby.  Homebirth is also less expensive than a hospital birth. Tara accepts many types of insurance.
